New mobile application for Cargo launched by DIAL

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) brought out a mobile app for operations of cargo that will reduce paperwork and will track shipments’ movement on a real-time basis. DIAL said that the app will help in cargo’s electronic clearance through the department of customs.

In one of its releases, DIAL said that the app provides an authorised access to customs, operators, airlines, freight forwarders, and custom house agents, among others. It noted that this will enable larger visibility for tangible cost as well as resource benefits and most importantly, cargo operations.  

The app called ‘DIAL Cargo’ is open for operating already.Prabhakara Rao, CEO I, DIAL, said that the app will provide benefits for the whole System of Air Trade where one can comfortably transact complete functionalities of business like paying terminal charges, tracking consignment, carting orders and issuing delivery as well as many such similar items without any paperwork.

In unison with the industry of air cargo services, has brought out a comprehensive and business friendly mobile app which can also incorporate received messages from the Directorate General Systems and Data Management and Customs Electronic Data Interchange System, the Central Board of Excise and Customs said in the same release.

It added that this will importantly reduce paperwork, dwell time as well as help the customs brokers in transacting their respective functionalities of business through mobiles.

P S Atre, President, Delhi Customs Clearing Agents Association, said that customers, through this app, can transact the business of air cargo on a real-time basis even if they are travelling.

In 2014-15, the Delhi International airport handled a total cargo of 700,000 MTs.
