E-freight by Softlink Global has become a boon for the independent forwarders using the WIN online platform


The independent forwarders with Soflink Global’s Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) software Logisys have started getting into e-freight. The service of e-freight was started by IATA in 2006. It became industry wide initiative involving, freight forwarders, carriers, shippers, customs authorities, ground handlers. As per the aviation news e-freight has not only saved costs but enhanced efficiency of many cargo companies. CTSI Logistics Phils. Inc, a forwarder headquartered at Philippines is doing shipments using this platform. The company’s General Manager, Mr. Gerry Inandan confirms that by choosing Logi-Sys supported by Worldwide Information Network, not only they have been able to work efficiently but it has also helped them in improving the turnaround time for shipments with good accuracy. This has led to creation of new opportunities for growth of their business.

In today’s electronic world, air cargo still depends on heavy paper documentation and airway bill (AWB) is the most important transport document in Air-cargo. It is the contract between the forwarder and the airline. The sole purpose of using efreight is to replace the paper work involved in air cargo with electronic data and messages. Thus the costs and time involved in paper handling are done away with. The speed and accuracy of services are improved and online tracking of shipments can be done easily. Apart from this they are more secure as there is no fear of losing important documentation in transit.
