The private and cargo aircrafts handled through General Aviation got restarted at the Brussels Airport today, however passenger aircrafts and flights are still under suspension till Friday at the least, the airport mentioned in one of its statements. The Brucargo landside is now cleared and cargo services flights received permission to fly after the Brucargo airside’s clearance.
The screening of air freight security has been tightened after the attacks, by keeping the ‘known shipper’ freight also being screened and making it compulsory for all cargo coming in the Brucargo warehouses to get clearance.Few freighter planes took place on Wednesday with an indication by the airport of these being empty flights for repositioning, said the airport.
Some air freight flights scheduled to be operated from the airport or bound for it were re-routed towards other airports, after Tuesday’s terrorist bombing.
The Airport is still under investigation for the bombing and till further notices, its surrounding perimeter remains out of limits, according to the statement.
Twin bomb explosions at Brussels airport with another one at one of the metro stations had left about 34 people dead and around 250, wounded. The attacks have been taken as a responsibility by ISIS while they also warned more attacks coming ahead.
